The short version
- Your business data is yours. We store it so you can back it up and use it on more than one phone — that's it.
- We don't sell your data, show you ads, or use tracking or analytics.
- Your synced data is stored on Google Cloud servers in Sydney, and each account can only see its own data.
- Subscriptions are paid through Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
- Delete your account and everything goes. It's removed straight away and permanently erased, including from backups, within 90 days.
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how BOINTZ TECH PTY LTD (ABN 37 697 350 851) ("Tradie Pocket Pal", "we", "us" or "our") collects, holds, uses, discloses and deletes personal information through the Tradie Pocket Pal mobile app, our website at tradiepocketpal.com.au, and related services.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified, or reasonably identifiable, individual.
By using the app or website, or by giving us personal information, you agree to us handling it as described in this policy. This policy does not limit any rights you have under the Privacy Act.
2. What we collect
Your account
- your email address and a password (we never see your password — it's handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in scrambled, hashed form);
- if you sign in with Apple or Google instead, the name and email address they share with us (with Apple, you can choose to hide your email, and we receive a private relay address instead);
- whether you've agreed to receive tips and offers from us, and when you made that choice.
Your business details
The details you enter so they can appear on your quotes and invoices, such as your business name, ABN, GST registration, phone, email, address, bank account name, BSB, account number and PayID, plus your payment terms and reminder settings.
Your work
The records you create in the app: clients, jobs, quotes, invoices, line items, payments, expenses, job notes and activity, job photos, receipt photos and client signatures.
Your trial and subscription
When your free trial started and ends, and, if you subscribe, your subscription status: the plan, which store you bought it through, and when it renews or ends. This comes from Apple or Google through our subscription provider. Payments are made to Apple or Google; we don't receive your card or bank details.
Addresses you look up
When you type an address into the App, what you type is sent to Google to suggest matching Australian addresses. If you pick one, its full address is fetched from Google and saved with your job or client. You can switch this off for any address and type it in yourself.
Website sign-ups
If you join our early-access list on the website, we collect your email address and, if you choose, your trade.
Technical information
Like any online service, our hosting providers automatically record basic technical information when your device connects to them, such as IP address, device and browser type, and the time of the request. We use this only to run, secure and fix the service. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and the website doesn't set tracking cookies.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply and help you.
3. Your clients' information
The app lets you store information about the people you work for — names, phone numbers, email and site addresses, notes, photos of their property, and signatures on quotes. We hold that information on your behalf, only so the app can show it to you, back it up and sync it between your devices. We don't contact your clients, and we don't use their information for anything else.
You are responsible for collecting your clients' information lawfully, only keeping what you need, and telling them how you use it where the law requires. Private job notes are visible only to you, but they are still stored and backed up like the rest of your data.
4. How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, enter details in the app, join our early-access list, or contact us. Information about your clients is collected by you and entered into the app. Technical information is collected automatically by our hosting providers when you use the app or website.
Most of the app works offline. What you enter is saved on your phone first, then uploaded to your account when you have signal.
5. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- create and run your account, and let you sign in;
- back up your data and keep it in sync across your devices;
- run your free trial and subscription, and give you access while either is active;
- suggest addresses as you type them;
- provide the app's features, such as building quotes and invoices, which you then choose to share;
- send you messages about your account, security, and important changes to the app or these policies;
- tell you when the app launches, if you joined the early-access list;
- send tips and offers, only if you've opted in;
- answer your questions and support requests;
- keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems; and
- meet our legal obligations.
We don't sell personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use your business data or your clients' information to train AI models.
6. Where it's stored and who we share it with
Your data is stored on your phone, and — once you sign in — in your account with our cloud provider. We use a small number of service providers to run the app:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Google Cloud) | Storing and syncing your business data, photos and receipts; the early-access list; hosting the website | Sydney, Australia (website served globally) |
| Google Firebase Authentication | Account sign-in (email, Apple and Google) and password reset emails | United States and other countries where Google operates |
| Google Cloud Functions | Starting free trials, recording subscriptions and deleting accounts | Sydney, Australia |
| Google Maps Platform (Places) | Suggesting addresses as you type them | United States and other countries where Google operates |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions bought through the App Store and Google Play (receives your account ID and purchase records, not your name or card details) | United States |
| Apple App Store and Google Play | Distributing the app, and taking payment for subscriptions | Under their own privacy policies |
| Google Fonts | Loading the website's typeface (your browser's IP address is sent to Google) | Global |
Because our sign-in, address lookup and subscription providers operate outside Australia, your email address, sign-in records, addresses you look up and subscription records may be held overseas, mainly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure our providers handle personal information consistently with Australian privacy law.
We may also disclose personal information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or to a buyer of our business, who would have to keep handling it under this policy. Apart from that, we don't share your information with anyone.
When you send a quote or invoice from the app, you choose who receives it and how (for example by email or message). That sharing happens through your phone's apps, not through us.
7. How long we keep it — the 90-day rule
We keep your data for as long as your account is open, so it's there when you need it. That includes after your free trial or subscription ends: your account becomes read-only, and your data stays so you can export it or subscribe again.
When you delete your account, we delete your data. Your account and everything in it — business details, clients, jobs, quotes, invoices, payments, expenses, photos, receipts and signatures — are removed from active use straight away and permanently erased from our systems, including backups, within 90 days.
- Deleting your account. You can delete your account in the app (Business tab → Backup & sync) or by emailing us from the address you signed up with. Deleting the app from your phone doesn't delete your account.
- Deleting individual items. When you delete a job, client, photo or other item, it disappears from the app straight away. A small "deleted" marker is kept briefly so your other devices also remove it, and the item is permanently erased within 90 days.
- Signing out. Signing out removes your data from that phone but keeps it in your account, so you can sign in again and get it back.
- Early-access list. We keep your email until the app launches and we've let you know, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first.
- Emails to us. We keep support emails for as long as we need them to help you, and no more than two years.
- Legal exceptions. We may keep limited information for longer only where the law requires it or to deal with a legal claim, and only for as long as that need lasts.
Deletion can't be undone. You may need to keep business records — such as invoices and expenses — for tax purposes (the ATO generally requires five years). Before you delete your account, save or export the quotes and invoices you need to keep.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include encryption in transit and at rest, access rules that let each account read and write only its own data, and limiting who at our company can access production systems.
You can help by using a strong password you don't use elsewhere and keeping your phone locked. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee the security of your information. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
9. Emails and marketing
We'll only send you tips and offers if you switched that option on when creating your account. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time. We'll still send emails you need, such as password resets and important account notices.
10. Children
Tradie Pocket Pal is a business tool for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.
11. Accessing or correcting your information
You can see and change most of your information directly in the app. To ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first. We'll respond within 30 days, and if we can't give you access to something, we'll tell you why.
If you're one of a tradie's clients and want to access or correct information they've stored about you, please contact that tradie directly — they control that information. We can help pass on your request if needed.
12. Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us with your name, contact details and a description of the problem. We'll look into it and respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new "last updated" date, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
